BARBIERI electronic and Caldera on August 16th announced an exclusive calibration to RIP multi-year strategic OEM partnership. This partnership is designed to mutually benefit both companies by better serving their end-users, dealers and printer manufacturer partners. The frame of the partnership consists of delivering “state of the art” automatic color calibration solutions to wide format and grand format printing professionals.

“At the beginning of this year we started cooperation with Caldera. The exciting results of these first mutual months drove us to work more closely with Caldera and therefore we decided to enter a strategic partnership,“ said Wolfgang Passler, Marketing Manager of Barbieri Electronic. “We are convinced this agreement represents a great opportunity to benefit our clients and grow our businesses in the UV and Super Wide format printing market segment,“

“Our users will benefit from the combination of Caldera and Barbieri’s leading technology and services, providing them with the most accurate and multipurpose color calibration solutions,“ said Joseph Mergui, CEO and President of Caldera. “This year’s launch of the high end TotalColor automatic measuring table has been a great success. We are very pleased to be able to partner with BARBIERI electronic which has 10 years of spectral measuring technology.”

After the great success of the TotalColor including the BARBIERI Spectro LFP, Caldera will be introducing also the Spectro Swing as an OEM product in their product range. This “Caldera Swing” is an affordable, easy to use, versatile and reliable automatic calibration device built to achieve top quality prints from digital output devices. Caldera Swing is a solution for linearization and profiling of photographic and wide format output devices for flexible reflective AND transparent materials with a thickness up to 0,7mm.

CardIRIS 4 with IRISCard scanner

CardIRIS 4 is IRIS's newest business card recognition software that is bundled with the IRISCard business card scanner. The complete system allows you to scan business cards, save them as Address Book entries or vCards, and have them OCR'd automatically. The IRISCard business card scanner is not required to run and enjoy CardIRIS's capabilities: the software will happily work with any TWAIN scanner.

Billings 3

Marketcircle makes one of the best invoice programs for the Mac, period. It's called Billings, it's in its third version and it's near-perfect. From its icon to its functionality, it all breathes thoroughness, and careful and thoughtful design. Billings 3 has multiple timers, recurring invoices, and an interface that is as easy to use as it is pleasing to the eye. The only thing I'm still not very impressed by is the template designer for invoices, estimates and reports, and I do think the retainer concept should be explained in more detail.

Path Finder 5

Is there such a thing as an indispensable application? Most people will answer with a resounding "Yes" and list a whole lorry full of them. But if you insist and demand that they list only one or two applications they can't live without, I doubt if Path Finder would make it with the first two. I mean, it's just a Finder replacement, right? Wrong! Path Finder is a life saver --and I'm being very polite, because if this wouldn't pretend to be a serious and professional information resource, I'd have used a different name instead of "life".
