With Western Digital SATA Generation II disks causing trouble in Power Mac G5 machines equipped with only the original SATA controller, I decided to ask Seagate for one of their Gen II SATA drives. After emailing back and forth, I received a Gen I SATA 400 GB Barracuda disk.

Sony DRM analysed by Gartner

On 1 November 2005, media reports indicated that some CDs produced by Sony BMG install operating-system-level software when played that cloaks its presence and alters the functioning of the user’s machine. Gartner analysts took a look and condemn Sony for its use of what they describe as spyware.

The Western Digital SE16 range of hard disk drives is Western Digital’s top range of SATA drives for desktop use. These drives have 16MB of cache memory, and they are available in 300 MB/sec models and the mainstream 150MB/sec Buffer to Host models.
